Boeing Faces Lawsuits by Chinese Airlines
Monday, May 27, 2019

Beijing.- The US aircraft manufacturer Boeing is facing big lawsuits by three major commercial airlines in China.

The requests for compensation from the Chinese companies respond to delays in delivery and breakdowns in their fleet of 737 MAX planes.

The lawsuits were filed by China Southern Airlines (the largest in Asia and the country), China Eastern Airlines and Air China, the latter a state-owned airline.

On March 11, China landed its domestic Boeing 737 MAX fleet in reaction to two accidents, the first of which occurred in October when a Lion Air plane fell off the coast of Indonesia.

The second accident occurred on March 10, when 157 people traveling on a 737 MAX plane of Ethiopian Airlines died after the plane crashed shortly after taking off.
