Congress Tourism in Colombian Market |

Bogota.- Congress tourism has gained ground in the Colombian market, placing the country in the 29th position in the ranking of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).
According to the specialized agency ProColombia, 147 events were held in the country last year, surpassing nations like Russia, New Zealand, Chile and South Africa.
The Colombian city that hosted more meetings in 2018 was Bogota, with 46, and became the sixth city in Latin America with the largest number of congresses held.
The capital was followed by Cartagena, Medellin, Cali and Barranquilla, and the ICCA explained that the 147 forums held in the country were attended 50,313 people and generated revenues of more than 84 million dollars.
Cartagena was chosen to host the World Congress of the organization in 2021, defeating cities like Athens in the contest.
