Elderly People Prioritized in Eastern Cuba
Monday, May 27, 2019

Havana.- The eastern Cuban province of Guantanamo prioritizes health care for elderly people.

It is worth mentioning that the territory has 94,146 people over 60 years of age, accounting for an increase of 0.4 percent compared to late 2018.

For this activity, measures have been designed to care for that age group, which accounts for 18.3 percent of the total population, which exceeds 521,900 inhabitants.

The essential element in this work is primary care through the Family Doctor System, which identifies biomedical and social problems of the elderly.

The province has five elderly homes with 369 beds, as well as 350 places, distributed in 12 elderly clubs and 42 places in hospitals.
