Havana.- The Mother-Child Program in the central Cuban province of Sancti Spiritus guarantees health care for young children.
In that direction, the territory registered in 2018 a rate of infant mortality of 2.9 per thousand live births, the fourth lowest in the country.
Special attention in the care of children under one year acquire Neonatology services, since they manage to save more than 90 percent of the children who enter those places.
In addition, for the admission of pregnant women with some pathology, there are five maternal homes located in Fomento, Sancti Spíritus, Yaguajay, Trinidad and Cabaiguán.
The main causes of admission to homes are the risks of prematurity, anemia, risk of gestational hypertension and pregnancy in adolescence.
