Cuban Athlete Stands Out in World Ranking of Discus |

Havana.- The Cuban discus thrower Denia Caballero leads the world ranking in that sport in 2019.
Caballero threw the discus 68.46 meters in an event in the auxiliary track of the Pan-American Stadium, in this capital.
The bronze medalist in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, defeated the previous leader of the ranking, Valarie Allman, from the United States, who recorded 67.15 meters in April.
Another Cuban discus thrower, Yaime Perez, ranks third in the world with 66.75 meters. She won the title in the Diamond League and in Central American Games in Barranquilla, Colombia, last year.
The two Cuban athletes are strong candidates to win medals in the upcoming Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, scheduled for the summer.
