New Cruise Terminal in Panama
Monday, May 20, 2019

Panama.- Panama's new cruise terminal, located on Perico island, is at 60 percent of its completion and could start up operations in late 2019.

The facility received an investment of 165 million dollars and is being built by the consortium Cruceros del Pacifico, made up of China Harbor Engineering Company and the Belgian firm Jan De Nul Panama.

The cruise terminal will have an initial capacity to receive two megaships simultaneously and to handle up to 5,000 passengers, with parking and cutting-edge technology for passenger boarding.

It will also be the first of its kind in the Pacific region of the Central American nation to boost tourism.

According to experts, during the 2018-2019 season, 234 cruises are expected to travel along the inter-oceanic route while carrying thousands of vacationers.
