Santo Domingo.- Health tourism has consolidated its positions in the Dominican Republic, which received 47,725 people interested in this modality in 2018.
This option contributed some 257 million dollars to the national economy, as well as benefiting from investments in technology and infrastructure.
Statistics show that 117,275 services were provided to people who, in a planned manner, went to Dominican territory for health reasons.
Dental care is the most demanded service by foreign visitors, followed by plastic, cardiovascular and orthopedic surgeries.
Together with this, 69,550 foreigners accessed to tourist medicine, which consists of providing emergency and urgency services or consultations.
