Natural Medicine in Eastern Cuba |

Havana.- The extension of the areas dedicated to the production of medicinal plants is part of the healthcare strategy in the eastern province of Camagüey.
The territory has 13 farms linked to sowing these species, with a view to reduce chemical-based drugs.
Natural and traditional medicine is an effective alternative for the substitution of medicines, which is why authorities expect to have 50 hectares dedicated to this purpose in the coming years.
In 2019, medical authorities expect to reach 114 courtyards cultivated with medicinal species, with a total area of 18 hectares.
The objective is to increase the supplies of fresh and dry plant to process green medicine in each municipality.
The need to strengthen natural and traditional medicine as an alternative to pharmacological products gained ground in Cuba in the 1990s.
