Cuban Cyclists to Compete in Guatemala

Havana.- Cuba will participate in the 19th edition of the Tour of Guatemala with a team of six cyclists with the goal of scoring for the ranking of the International Cycling Union (UCI).

The Cuban team is made up of Claudia Baro, Yusmary Diaz, Maylin Sanchez, Idaris Cervantes, Iraida Garcia and the experienced Yumari Gonzalez, a multiple world medalist on track cycling.

In addition, the Cuban cyclists Arlenis Sierra and Heydi Praderas will also be part of the Astana Women's Team, along with Canada's Marie Soleil Blas, Colombia's Liliana Moreno and Mexico's Yareli Salazar.

The class II event of the UCI Americas Tour will contribute to the training of the Cuban cyclists for the Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, which will open on July 26.

Organizers indicated that the event will consist of five stages and the registration of other foreign teams with a higher level is expected.
