Havana.- The apiculture company (APICUBA) is working on a new image for be honey in Cuba, ranging from small-format containers for export to retail markets.
Specialists emphasize in particular the natural flavor of the food, coming from wild flora with hardly any manipulation, neither additives nor contaminants.
APICUBA's production at present is about 9,000 tons, although the company has projects for significant growth to meet the market's demand.
The firm commercializes organic and conventional honey, wax and other byproducts, including apicultural nutritional supplements, which are recognized for their effectiveness as energizers, healers and immune-stimulants.
In addition to exports, honey is sold in the country in the tourism sector, in chain stores and as a raw material for medicines.
