Contributions of Emilio Bacardi Museum Recognized
Monday, February 18, 2019

Havana.- The Emilio Bacardi Museum, in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, stands out for its contributions to culture over the past 120 years.

The institution has important cultural and historic assets in the halls on history, art and ethnography, thanks to the acquisition of objects and belongings linked to the 19th-century wars.

The museum preserves elements related to Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, such as a replica of the flag hoisted on October 10, 1868, and fragments of a tree from the sugar mill La Demajagua.

In addition, a bill signed by him as president of the Republic in Arms, a dish he used in his visit to El Cobre, and the printing press where the newspaper El Cubano Libre was published.

The museum is also the first of its kind of a public nature founded in Cuba.
