Monday, February 18, 2019

Havana.- The National Library of Cuba, a prestigious cultural institution, recognized the work of outstanding intellectuals.

The Library's National Reading Program granted the Puertas de Espejo Award to the writer and journalist Marta Rojas, for the book El Equipaje Amarillo (The Yellow Baggage), which was a best seller in 2018.

Meanwhile, the Raul Ferrer Honorary Prize, which is an acknowledgement of social work by all promoters of reading, was granted to Miguel Barnet for his outstanding intellectual work for years.

In this regard, Barnet said that the award represents an important incentive to creativity.

In addition, the award to the year's promoter of reading was given to the historian Hugo Crespo, while the Salvador Bueno Award went to the Mirta Aguirre municipal library, in Ciego de Avila.
