Cuba's Tourist Sector on the Way to Expansion
Monday, February 11, 2019

Havana.- Cuba's tourism sector is executing a broad program of expansion of its capacities, with a view to meeting the predictions of increased demand.

In 2018, the opening of new establishments was completed, including the Sagua la Grande tourist center, and works continued in Santiago de Cuba, where six new hotels will start up operations.

Work is also underway in Cienfuegos and in the city of Trinidad, where the ground-breaking movement of the Melia Trinidad Hotel, with 350 rooms, was completed through a joint venture.

In addition, the construction of the Iberostar Ancon Hotel will begin, as well as of small-format hotels in locations such as Viñales, Gibara, Baracoa, Sancti Spiritus and Camagüey.

Additionally, the extra-hotel network will be expanded, covering significant gaps to create theme and water parks in major destinations.
