Cuban Athlete Excels at Copernicus Cup
Monday, February 11, 2019

Havana.- The Cuban long jumper Juan Miguel Echevarria won the title in that modality at the Copernicus Athletics Cup, held in the Polish city of Torun.

At the event, which is part of the World Indoor Tour-2019, the Cuban athlete jumped 8.12 meters, thus relegating the Swedish competitor, Thobias Nilsson, to the second place.

The Cuban athlete's jump was his best result in the current season in indoors competitions, and he got it in his first attempt.

Echevarria's next competition will be the third and last of the winter season, this time in Birmingham, England.

Cuba was also represented by Roger Valentin Iribarne in the 60-meter hurdles, who finished seventh after clocking 7.82 seconds in the finals.
