Cuban Experts Call to Prevent Buccal Cancer
Monday, January 21, 2019

Havana.- The Cuban health system is encouraging actions to strengthen the prevention of buccal cancer, which is very common in the population.

Specialists from the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba pointed out that in that territory, buccal cancer is the second cause of death due to malignant tumors, with a growing presence in young people and women.

Priorities in 2019 include courses and events to train professionals from different levels of the health care system.

The professionals warned that it is possible to detect buccal cancer in an early stage if the population knows the symptoms and signs of the disease.

In general, this condition has four stages and is curable in the first two phases. In the third one, it may or may not be treated, and in the fourth stage, the tumor is larger and with metastasis.
