Priority for Children's Health in Eastern Cuba
Monday, January 14, 2019

Havana.- The eastern Cuban province of Las Tunas prioritizes the services to provide medical care to local children.

In this regard, the Martires de Las Tunas Children's Hospital has an Intensive Care Unit that can meet the most complex requirements.

According to statistics from the healthcare sector, the survival of children who admitted in the Intensive Care Unit in 2018 was 98 percent, and among the ventilated patients it exceeded 96 percent.

The main causes of admittance were respiratory infections, sepsis and accidents, while minors received high-quality medical attention.

Workers at the intensive care service pointed out that they monitor serious patients since they are 29 days of birth until one day before they turn 19 years of age.
