Cuban Economy Promotes Foreign Investment

Havana.- Cuba is promoting foreign investment in several sectors of its economy, with a business portfolio that contains 525 projects.

Of the total of options, 45 are located in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM), and the total amount of all projects is 11.609 billion dollars.

The sectors with greatest opportunities are tourism (187), agri-food (108) and oil (105), followed by industries (48), construction and mining (14 each).

By provinces, Havana has the largest number of projects totaling 85, followed by Artemisa (64), Holguin and Matanzas (35 each).

The rules take into account several forms of foreign investment, including joint ventures, International Economic Associations (IEA) and 100-percent foreign capital.
