Cheese Production Grows in Camagüey
Monday, January 14, 2019

Havana.- The La Vaquita cheese factory, in the eastern Cuban province of Camagüey, closed operations in 2018 with production surplus of 1,100 tons of that food.

This volume was achieved thanks to a stable supply of milk throughout the period, which was profitable for cattle raisers.

As a result, more than 1.563 million convertible pesos were earned by concept of sales of fresh creole cheese to local hotels. The plant supplies Gouda, Santa Maria, Natural, semi-hard Coral and Santa Cruz cheese, as well as Frescal, natural and flavored yogurt and cream cheese.

The factory benefited from the incorporation of a pasteurizer, a skimmer and a homogenizer, new Russian-made equipment that allowed greater quality in the processing of the raw material.
