Sustainable Tourism in Western Cuba
Monday, December 3, 2018

Havana.- Sustainable tourism projects find in the Las Terrazas Complex, in Cuba, a space for their development with growing interest from national and foreign visitors.

Linked to the rural environment, this initiative allocates about 16 percent of the profits generated by tourism to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants.

The complex was founded in 1994, coinciding with the inauguration of the Hotel Moka and in correspondence with the attractions of the site with varied flora and fauna and excellent conditions for trekking.

The options include a visit to the ruins of the French Buena Vista coffee farm, which dates back to the 19th century, as well as the possibility to watch up to 100 species of birds.

In the area, a reforestation project started in 1968 and since then, more than seven million timber and fruit trees have been planted.
