Cuban Sports Present in Prensa Latina Survey

Havana.- The 55th edition of the Annual Sports Survey carried out by Prensa Latina news agency includes major Cuban athletes among its nominees.

The survey acknowledges the most outstanding of Latin America and Caribbean male and female athletes, and on this occasion, eight Cuban athletes are among the candidates.

The list includes two Cubans in track and field, two in combat sports and one each in baseball, boxing, judo and sports shooting.

They are Yaime Perez (discus), Juan Miguel Echeverria (long jump), Alfredo Despaigne (baseball) and Andy Cruz (boxing), in addition to Idalis Ortiz (judo), Yowlis Bonne and Lianna de la Caridad Montero (wrestling), and Jorge Grau (sports shooting).

The first winner of Prensa Latina's survey was the Cuban sprinter Enrique Figuerola, silver medalist in the 100-meter race at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, in 1964.
