Cuban Sailboats Train for Continental Event
Monday, November 12, 2018

Havana.- The Cuban Sailing Federation is working to define the crew that will compete in the snipe race at the Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, in 2019.

Cuba qualified in an event that took place recently in Argentina, so the country's team has to be set up to compete in the continental games.

Cuban experts pointed out that Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Puerto Rico, the United States, Ecuador, Chile, Guatemala and Peru also qualified.

At the meeting in the Argentinean capital, the best placed Cuban boat was that of Rene Torrecillas and Lorena Fundora, who finished in the eighth place.

In addition, Nelido Manso and his daughter, Iris Laura, finished in the fifteenth place.

Cuba has won three titles in the Pan-American Games in the snipe category with Nelido Manso and Octavio Lorenzo, who won the gold medals in 1991, 1995 and 1999.
