Havana.- The Cuban triple jumper Jordan Diaz was chosen the best youth in 2018 by the North, Central America and the Caribbean Athletics Confederation.
It is worth mentioning that Diaz was the champion at the U-20 championship in Tampere and at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, and holds the national record in that category, which is 17.41 meters.
He also won the gold medal at the world cadet championship in 2017 and completed his current campaign with the silver medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia.
In the women's category, the Jamaican sprinter Briana Williams was chosen the best young athlete after winning the 100- and 200-meter races at the World championship in Tampere.
Among the elders, the Confederation chose Jamaica's best discus thrower, Fredrick Dacres, and Bahamian sprinter Shaunae Miller-Uibo, both winners of the final of the Diamond League in Brussels, Belgium.
