Increased Air Traffic in Caribbean Region
Monday, October 22, 2018

Panama.- Passenger air traffic in Latin America grew 6.6 percent in August, with an additional 1.43 million travelers.

The Latin American and Caribbean Association of Air Transport (ALTA) noted that several companies in the region mobilized a total of 23 million passengers in the eighth month of the year.

The largest increases were reported in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Peru, thanks to the operations of low-cost airlines.

In the case of traffic between Latin America and other regions, the expansion was 13.8 percent, especially due to the activity of Brazilian airlines that fly to the United States.

The market to Europe showed a growth of 11.1 percent in August, as a result of a high occupancy rate of 87.3 percent in that market, one of the highest increases in 2018.
