Matanzas Gets Status as a Tourist City
Monday, October 22, 2018

Havana.- The city of Matanzas, in the western Cuban province of the same name, was officially declared a tourist city by local authorities.

Minister of Tourism Manuel Marrero highlighted momentous events in the socio-economic and cultural development of Matanzas, which is on the network of Cuban heritage cities.

Matanzas offers a wide range of attractions, including the Louvre Hotel, which was closed in 2008 due to advanced deterioration, and was reopened with 14 rooms, while the remodeling of 41 other rooms was completed.

The aforementioned establishment, as well as the Velasco Hotel, will be included in the portfolio of the Cubanacán group and will operate under the Encanto brand.

This way, the investment program on the occasion of the 325th anniversary of Matanzas will allow the city's commercialization for tourism during the upcoming peak season.
