Improved Care for Diabetic Patients in Sancti Spiritus
Monday, October 22, 2018

Havana.- The health system in the central Cuban province of Sancti Spiritus has facilities to provide specialized care to diabetic patients.

In that regard, a new device, which is called Novopen and was donated by the Danish company Novo Nordisk, is being used in the province to humanize the treatment with insulin.

More than 400 diabetic patients in the province currently have this device, which is a substitute for the traditional syringes that are usually used.

Novopen has a thinner and shorter needle, in addition to a monitor for patients to monitor the right dose to administer.

The equipment, also known as nib, is designed for the use of visually impaired people, since it makes a peculiar sound depending on the dose, making it possible for visually impaired patients to administer the medication.
