Birth Rate Increases in Villa Clara
Monday, October 22, 2018

Havana.- The Cuban central province of Villa Clara has reported a moderate growth in the birth rate since January.

In the abovementioned period, 5,639 children were born in the province, accounting for an increase of 136 births compared to the same period in 2017.

Coupled with this, the success of the Mother Child Program (PAMI) in the territory is shown in an infant mortality rate of three deaths per 1,000 live births.

The province has the oldest population in the country 182,382 people over 60 years of age, who represent 23.15 percent of the total population.

in order to counter this situation, health authorities are working on the control of infertility at specialized services and this year, 912 couples have received treatment by multidisciplinary teams.
