Outstanding Cuban Dancer Receives British Award |

Havana.- The outstanding Cuban dancer and choreographer Carlos Acosta was decorated by the Royal Academy of Dance of the United Kingdom as an acknowledgement of his work in favor of dance.
The Cuban artist received the Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Award at a special ceremony held at the Spencer Palace, one of the most splendid British residences from the 18th century.
According to specialists, the award recognizes Acosta's position as one of the most influential figures in contemporary dance, as a source of inspiration for dancers from all over the world and for helping young people.
The Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Award is granted annually to people who have contributed significantly to the art of ballet and dance.
The award was established in 1953 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II and has been bestowed to Ninette de Valois, Marie Rambert, Frederick Ashton, Antony Tudor, Kenneth MacMillan, Rudolf Nureyev and the company The Royal Ballet.
