Millions of Dollars Lost for Tourism in Nicaragua
Monday, September 24, 2018

Managua.- The crisis that has affected Nicaragua in recent months left its imprint in tourism, since the country will stop receiving about 400 million dollars from that activity.

The National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) pointed out that in 2017, international tourism contributed 700 million dollars in revenues, up 9 percent compared to the previous year.

The government expected to capture 924 million dollars in tourism revenues this year, but predictions show only 693 million dollars.

In turn, Canatur projected one billion dollars in tourism revenue in 2018.

In addition, nine out of ten companies in the tourism sector consider that it is essential to overcome the crisis in order to recover this important economic activity.
