New Joint Venture in Western Cuba |

Havana.- The joint venture Vidrios Mariel S.A. was authorized to operate in Cuba for 25 years, with an initial investment of 90 million dollars.
Based in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM, in Spanish), the new company is made up of the Italian Mercantile Society Nelson Servizis.r.l. and Quimi S.A. from Cuba, which is attached Grupo Empresarial de la Industria Química.
The new firm will build a plant to make glass containers for beverages, preserves and other uses, as well as for wholesales in the domestic market and for export.
Experts noted that the infrastructure might be ready for start-up in 24 months, with environmentally friendly technologies.
According to estimates, the new structure will meet up to 70 percent of the country's demand for glass containers for the beverage and canning industries.
