Advanced Technology in Cuban Ports
Monday, August 13, 2018

Havana.- The port of Santiago de Cuba, in the east region of the country, has received three modern gantry cranes that will operate in the new multipurpose dock that is currently under construction.

Previously, the dredging of the bay was completed to a depth of 13.60 meters and the draft for the access channel, maneuvering dock and berthing crates was improved.

Multipurpose cranes handle general cargo of containers, sacks and bulk, with high performance, reliability, accuracy, low operating costs and energy consumption.

It is worth mentioning that the terminal will provide the bay with a modern facility for ships of up to 40,000 tons with state-of-the-art technological equipment.

Work is also under way in new warehouses, perimeter fences, coastal protection, guardhouse and towers for the lighting system with circular metal columns with mobile crowns.
