Cuban Athletes to Compete in International Event in Canada
Monday, August 13, 2018

Havana.- Cuba will compete in the NACAC Athletics Championship in Toronto (Canada), which will bring together important track and field figures.

Cuba's delegation includes Yarisley Silva (pole vault), winner of the recent Central American and Caribbean Games with a jump of 4.70 meters.

Other members of the Cuban team are the discus thrower Yaime Perez, who set a new record for the event, and three-time gold medalist Rose Mary Almanza.

The latter was Cuba's sensation in the Games, where she won the 800- and 1,500-meter races, as well as the 4x400 relay on the final day of competitions.

Organizers confirmed that 28 countries will participate and mentioned athletics stars like the Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce, who has won several Olympic Games.
