Havana.- The Cuban women's volleyball team finished in the seventh position at the 27th Pan-American Cup, which took place in the Dominican Republic.
The Cuban players gave a discreet performance and were out of the qualification for the Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, in 2019.
In the match for the seventh place, Cuba beat Peru 3-1, with highlight for Ailama Cese, the top scorer of the game with 31 points; Claudia Hernández (15) and Diaris Pérez (14).
Meanwhile, the United States won the title after defeating the Dominican Republic 3-2, while for the bronze medal went to Canada, after beating Brazil 3-0 (15-25, 25-20 and 25-21).
Colombia finished fifth and Puerto Rico sixth, while the ninth to the twelfth places were held by Argentina, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago and Costa Rica, respectively.
The historic gold medals have gone to the United States, with six titles, ahead of Cuban and the Dominican Republic, both with four gold medals, and Brazil with three.
