Cubans for medals in Central American Sports Shootings
Monday, July 9, 2018

Havana.- Cubans hope to obtain at least a dozen gold medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, to be held this this year in Colombia.

Cuban sports officials noted the possibility of going near the 14 gold medals won in the edition of Veracruz-2014.

Among Cuba's main opponents of Cubans are Mexico and Colombia, without ruling out Guatemala, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic, which are strong in some modalities.

On this occasion, Cuba's sports shooting delegation is made up of 21 competitors in all the contests, except in the women's shotgun, and the pit and double pit for men.

The Cuban team is led by Leuris Pupo, Olympic champion in London-2012 in the 25-meter fast-fire pistol, and Eglys de la Cruz, bronze medalist in Beijing-2008 in the rifle.

Four years ago, the Cuban shooters won that sport with 14 gold titles, seven silver medals and seven bronze medals.
