Gaviota Bets on Expansion
Monday, June 18, 2018

Havana.- The Gaviota group, one of the main companies that operates in Cuba's tourism sector, plans to execute a broad infrastructure investment plan.

The company currently owns 84 hotels and villas with more than 29,000 rooms altogether, which accounts for 30 percent of the country's accommodation capacity.

Moreover, the program will open 4,591 new rooms in Havana, Cayo Las Brujas, Cayo Santa María, Cayo Guillermo, Cayo Cruz and Holguín in 2018.

Coupled with this is the partnership with hotel chains such as Iberostar, Meliá, H10, Valentín Hotels, Blue Diamond, BanyanTree, Pestana, Kempinski Hotels and Marriott International.

By 2021, Gaviota expects to have 50,000 rooms, 90 percent of which will be run under management contracts with foreign companies in the tourism sector.
