Cuba Stands Out in Triathlon World Cup
Monday, June 18, 2018

Havana.- Leslie Amat, from Cuba, achieved her best performance in triathlon events, finishing in the 19th position in the World Cup held in Mexico.

The Cuban athlete achieved that result in the Sprint Elite modality, where 41 competitors competed.

Amat clocked 01:03:24 hours, away from the winner, Chelsea Sodaro (01:01:14), from the United States. It is noteworthy that in 2017, the Cuban athlete ranked 22nd in Chengdu, China, and 29th in Madrid, Spain.

According to experts, the result could take her to be among the top 100 best triathletes in the world, since she was in the 113th position in the world ranking before the Mexican tournament.

Leslie Amat will compete at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, along with her compatriots Daniela Ciara and Tania Rizo.
