Monday, June 18, 2018
Havana.- Cuba will host the qualifying fencing tournament this month with a view to the Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, in 2019.
The event will bring together 329 fencers from more than 30 nations and will also allow assessing their training for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia, this year.
Participants include the Olympic sword gold medalist Rubén Limardo (Venezuela), the U.S. foil fencers Race Imboden and Alexander Massialas.
Cuba will be represented by four fencers per weapon and gender, except in the men's foil contest, in which only three Cubans will compete.
Therefore, there are 156 individual places in the contest, divided between men and women, and 18 for the event by teams, in which Cuba is included.
