Geneva.- World air transportation grew 6.2 percent in terms of passengers per kilometer in April.
According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), that figure is lower than the 9.7-percent increase reported in March.
Experts admitted that the rise in fuel prices is already influencing the evolution of the cost of tickets.
The demand from Asian airlines grew 8.5 percent compared to last year, placing the region at the head of the world thanks to the strong economic growth it is experiencing.
Meanwhile, the increase in air traffic in the Middle East was 4.1 percent, while in Europe, it was 3.4 percent, and 0.9 percent in North America.
