UNESCO Recognizes Cuban Cultural Events |

Havana.- The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) acknowledged the contribution of Cuban rumba and "punto cubano" (two musical genres).
Both cultural expressions were declared Humankind's Intangible Heritage by UNESCO, thus joining a select world list.
According to experts, the rumba and "punto cubano" are living expressions, paradigms of a culture of resistance, with high ethical and aesthetic values.
The inclusion of the two expressions in this important list speaks of the strength of Cuban culture, and the creative potential of the Cuban people.
In that regard, several experts agreed on the possibility that Cuba might add new cultural expressions to that list, taking into account the richness of the country's cultural heritage.
