Havana.- Patients suffering from celiac disease in the central Cuban province of Villa Clara benefit from the opening of a specialized candy store that provides food with the required quality.
The aforementioned condition is a digestive disease that damages the small intestine and alters the absorption of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients contained in food.
Therefore, patients with celiac disease do not tolerate a protein called gluten, which is found in cereals such as wheat, oats, barley, rye.
According to specialists, the place has the required hygienic and sanitary conditions, is closed and with a favorable climate, together with the correct handling of the items that are manufactured.
The sweetshop has registered so far 136 patients who reside in Santa Clara, in addition to 94 from the other municipalities of the province.
