Havana.- The Ernesto Guevara Heart Center, located in the central Cuban province of Villa Clara, reports a survival rate of 95 percent.
Since its opening in 1988, 2,293 coronary interventions have been performed at the Center, in addition to nearly 10,000 cardiovascular surgeries.
In the field of interventional cardiology, the Center has treated more than 16,700 patients, who have undergone about 32,000 procedures, including coronary angioplasty and angioplasties that substitute surgical operations.
The institution provides treatments and rehabilitation to patients (adults and children) suffering from congenital and acquired heart conditions.
It also provides assistance and training, and carries out research and the introduction of new technologies.
