Cruise Tourism in Spain
Monday, March 5, 2018

Madrid.- The tourist sector in Spain reported the arrival in the country's ports of 9.2 million cruise passengers in 2017, accounting for a year-on-year growth of 6.7 percent.

According to authorities, 8.3 million visitors arrived on the Mediterranean coast or in the Balearic or Canary Islands.

Experts estimate that more than 9.5 million travelers will visit Spain in a two-year period.

It is worth mentioning that the cruise industry generates 1.255 billion euros in the country, with a significant participation of 10.9 percent in national tourism.

As part of the actions to boost that activity, special tax measures will be maintained to reduce the rates that vessels must pay.
