Cuba Provides Care to Patients Suffering from Endocrine Diseases
Monday, March 5, 2018

Havana.- The Cuban health system has, among its objectives, the diagnosis, treatment and cure of several diseases, including diabetes mellitus.

In that regard, the National Institute of Endocrinology stands out, as it is charge of promoting the technological development to diagnose and treat the disease.

Likewise, it is called to promote national endocrinology programs and publicize the progress made by participating in national and international events.

Diabetic patients are treated at a day-care center attached to the institute, where they are treated at outpatient services, undergo laboratory tests, have complications treated and receive therapeutic education.

In the institution, they receive classes on nutritional education, changes of lifestyle, physical exercises and other subjects such as psychology, ophthalmology and nutrition, depending on the pathology.
