Minimum-Access Surgery Gains Ground in Cuban
Monday, March 5, 2018

Havana.- Surgical procedures using minimum access procedures are gaining ground in the Cuban health system, due to its advantages to patients.

Precisely, the expansion of this procedure is one of the priorities of the Cuban Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, experts said.

To this end, the expansion of minimally invasive joint surgery to the whole country is planned, as that technique benefits patients and the national health system.

As an example, the experts mentioned that injuries of the shoulder joint account for 12 percent of those surgeries.

The injuries include instability, tendon ruptures and traumatic shoulder dislocations, being the latter the most frequently problem.
