Cuba Promotes Organic Sugar Production
Monday, March 5, 2018

Havana.- Production of organic sugar is a priority for the Cuban economy, with a view to responding to the growing demand for that item.

In that regard, the Carlos Baliño sugar factory, in the central province of Villa Clara, has produced 4,200 tons of organic sugar, which is obtained from sugarcane grown without fertilizers and other chemicals.

Currently, a test or sampling stage of the product is carried out in the laboratories, before starting to produce organic sugar at a larger scale, as it is highly demanded internationally.

Organic sugar mainly goes to the European market, along with organic bee honey, which is also exported at high prices.
