Havana.- The Cuban aquaculture development strategy until 2030 establishes the recovery of infrastructure, to guarantee the feeding of fish and the genetic improvement of the species.
officials from the sector pointed out that in recent years, production has remained stable and the highest captures were reported in 2015 (26,000 tons).
Aquicultural production is mainly goes to the domestic market, in an effort to meet the national demand for food.
In 2018, the plan is to maintain captures above 20,000 tons, taking advantage of the recovery of several reservoirs in the country.
In addition, the development of intensive and extensive fish raising is expected in order to guarantee adequate volumes of the product for processing.
