Havana.- The Cuban health system promotes the application of a comprehensive rehabilitation program, which extends its influence to the communities.
In the case of the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, the incorporation of specialists into the teams that work at the family doctor's offices was highlighted.
Previously, an evaluation of potential patients is carried out, including pregnant women, and disabled and elderly people.
The experts also pointed out that rehabilitation facilitates the prevention of chronic non-transmissible diseases such as hypertension and other conditions that can be prevented by following a healthy lifestyle.
Hemiplegia and deformities, as well as cervical osteoarthritis that causes periodic crises, are among the most treated conditions in the rehabilitation rooms.
