Monday, February 5, 2018

Havana.- The Cuban cycling team gave a discreet performance at the 36th edition of the Cycling Tour of San Juan (Argentina), where more than 160 cyclists from 27 teams took part.

For Cuba, the best placed cyclist was Pedro Portuondo, who finished in the 42nd position in the general qualification at the event.

According to experts, for the Cuban cyclists, the event was a good practice prior to the 5th National Route Classic and as training for the Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia.

The event featured seven World Tour teams, five professional teams, nine continental teams and national teams from Italy, Cuba, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil and Argentina.

The winner of the tour was Argentina's Gonzalo Nájar (SEP of San Juan), followed by Spain's Oscar Sevilla (Medellín-Inder), who was 51 seconds behind the leader, and Italy's Filippo Gann (UAE Emirates) 1:11 minutes behind.
