Cuban Athlete Competes in Europe

Havana.- Yorgelis Rodríguez, Cuba's best heptathlete, finished in the fifth place in the high jump competition during an athletics meeting held in the Czech city of Trinec.

At the event, the Cuban representative set a record of 1.80 meters, after failing three times the height of 1.84 meters and be far from his personal best performance (1.95 meters).

The contest was won by the jumper from Saint Lucia, Levern Spencer (1.90), who was escorted by Sofie Skoog (1.87), from Sweden, and Marija Vukovic (1.87), from Montenegro.

The event marks the beginning of the winter tour for Cuban athletics, during which Rodríguez is expected to participate in at least five competitions.

Cuban athletes are expected to compete in the World Indoor Athletics Championships in the British city of Birmingham.
