Airbus to Continue Making A380 Superjumbos
Monday, January 22, 2018

Paris.- The European aircraft maker Airbus will continue producing the A380 superjumbo, as it has received an order to build 36 such planes for the airline Emirates.

The company ordered 20 planes with the option to buy 16 other aircrafts at a total price of nearly 16 billion dollars.

Emirates has a fleet of 101 A380 planes and it is waiting for the delivery of 41 such planes, so the new contract will increase the airline's fleet to 178 planes of that model.

In addition, this transaction will prevent the suspension of production of the superjumbo, because at least six orders a year were needed to continue production.

Emirates operates four daily flights between Dubai and Madrid and Barcelona using A380 superjumbos exclusively and it is the only operator of that model of plane in Spain.
