Cruise Tourism Grows in Dominican Republic
Monday, January 22, 2018

Santo Domingo.- Ports in the Dominican Republic received nearly 1.5 million foreign cruise passengers in 2017, accounting for a 37-percent increase compared to the previous year.

The fastest growth was reported in November and December, when the arrivals of cruise ships increased twofold, mainly in the ports of Amber Cove, in Puerto Plata and La Romana.

Precisely, Amber Cove was the main way of access for foreign vacationers, with 659,622 travelers (including passengers and crew members).

There were additional points of arrivals in several terminals by the cruise companies Pullmantur, Norweigian, Carnival, Royal Princess and Costa Pacifica, among others.

The ports of Don Diego and Sans Soucí had intensive activity as a result of arrivals of new ships from world-renowned companies.
